Yes...it's time to start the year fresh and not focus on the previous year of rejections and unfinished manuscripts. Everytime I feel discouraged, I remind myself of how successful writers have struggled also, and then I think about my goal as a writer. Before I know it, I'm back to my computer.

Remember, even if you feel you cannot face a mss you are working on, just open up a new doc. Words will flow, and who knows, maybe a short story or the beginnings of a new mss will emerge and motivate you to write something fresh. As long as you are writing something!

[...] I’ve already hinted that 2009 will be a year of submissions and agent-hunting for me, as well as finishing another novel. I’m also revisiting some of my 2008 resolutions [...]

Kate, glad to hear I'm not alone! And I'm pretty much giving up on writing until next year (sounds so drastic ...).
I'll go take a look at that meme now, thanks!
And happy holidays to you, too :-)

I feel the same way too. With classes coming to an end, it's a struggle just finishing all that marking and giving them back. And the socializing we have (if it's your boss) or like (if they're your friends) to do has risen to a massive scale because of the holidays. I haven't been writing all week and I'm depressed about it. It has helped a bit though that the students were really motivated to learn from their mistakes.

By the way, I've tagged you with a meme. I hope you don't mind participating. I would love to know more sides of you!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
